Blessing Bag Drive

November is a packed month in terms of Community Reads! We have a tight turnaround before our next Community Read: "Those Shoes.” The “Those Shoes" Community Read will be held on Friday, 11/22/19 for all grades (3K-8).
In an effort to streamline the service theme from the book, we have organized a schoolwide Blessing Bag drive. This idea came from the wonderful work the 2nd grade engaged in last year for the November community read (“How to Heal a Broken Wing”). Each grade is responsible for 1 item, and all items across all grades will be compiled into gallon-sized Ziploc bags for Blessing Bags we will donate to a women’s shelter here in East Harlem. Each student only needs to bring 1 of the grade’s assigned items, and teachers will collect these donations between Monday 11/04 and Friday, 11/22. Our student council, led by Ms. Marte, will be working with volunteers from New York Cares to collect the items from your classrooms on 11/22 in order to create our school’s Blessing Bags upstairs in the gym.

Check out the Parent News tab to learn more and find out what each grade will be responsible for donating.
